I've been playing golf on and off for ten years and the only thing that has been consistent in my game is my love for playing the game with a great set of irons.
When I started playing golf that he had a full set of clubs Howson, which were purchased for two reasons account
1) They were the only complete set could afford. As I remember it cost me around £ 200 for a full set of irons, a driver, three fairway woods and a putter, a pair of golf shoes and a bag or tram. My how things have changed.
2) The second point was because they were the cheapest around, I thought if it was not very good at the game, I would not lose too much money when they sell.
That is what the golf course, no one tells you that you love or hate. Ironically at the time that 'sliced' my first tee shot me 'hooked'. How could this ball bit silly to be so difficult to enter the hole? It is an amazing game that challenges the player to prove it right. You could have 99 shots of mediocrity and just one that a professional would have complied with and that is enough to keep him over and over again time.
Once he had begun to get to grips with the game I upgraded my irons a Taylor Made 320 Series Irons. I could not believe the difference they made to my game. Of course, a lot of good play for higher handicap is down to mindset, if you have a golf shirt or a brand new Pro V1 ball, let alone a new set of irons then you feel better about yourself and the game is easier ... much to be said for having the right mindset.
Since first hitting the 320 Irons I've found always check out the latest versions of irons and putters and drivers, in fact almost everything he says makes me a better player, which as you know seems to be in the magazine all the golf courses on the planet, with a new edition of the magazine every month.
I have not managed to resist for long as I was seduced by the Taylor Made Burner Series, this was due to claims of faster speeds and longer, I'm always a bit of ease and not be disappointed. Not sure if you really hit the ball faster or higher or more, but it certainly makes me feel better about my game and I think the handicap level higher than has to be something good ... all I need now is that the climate in the United Kingdom to improve.
