Ping has an almost unbelievable number of choices of putters for golfers. I counted 176 different varieties of putters that are available in different types of metals, inserts and other technologies. This does not count the 36 additional options that are available on line to specify which allows golfers to mix, for example, the front of a Ping Anser putter with the back of a Zing model. So if a player has an idea about the type and style of putter prefers, Ping will almost certainly has a solution. The philosophy is to offer putters Ping your line of established models in the different technologies they have adopted. In other words, there is a Ping Anser putter available in almost each of the series offered. Each series of putters will use a certain metal or combination of metal, and some kind of integration in the face of the putter or other technology. The company also has a program in assembly line that directs golfers to the location of qualified installers putter. This article describes the new series and i series Karsten and Redwood Series, and the JAS putter craz-E A, another new product offering.
The Ping i Series by
The i series is a new line of putters that will not ship to retailers until November 2007. All the putters in this product line will include a system of two parts insertion, which consists of a urethane insert with a thinner material on top of urethane. This technology is used to give good feedback to the golfer, in other words a soft feel and good sound. There are a total of 10 models available with the technology of the Series I, including old standards like the Anser and Zing, and Piper, B60, E-craz, craz-E ½, and crescent patterns.
The Karsten Series
These putters, of course, the name of Karsten Solheim, who was the founder of Ping. Again, this is a brand new product line that will begin shipping to retailers until October 2007. The faces of these putters are made of steel and an elastomer insert is added to the face in the contact zone with the ball. Weight has been redistributed to the perimeter of the club head which increases the club head moment of inertia (MOI), and this adds forgiveness on off-center hits. These putters also have what is called a grant from the mult-level alignment. The thin and rectangular top edge of the putter contrasts with the lines for in the back cavity to make alignment easier. There are seven models offered in Karsten series including the Anser, Anser 2, B60, B67, Zing, craz-E, and Piper models of putter heads.
Redwood Series
This series is named Redwood City, California, where Karsten Solheim started working on putters in his garage, and this was the company's inception Ping. These putters are all milled from 303 stainless steel. Some players like the feel of a milled putter. Three traditional models are offered in this format, the Anser, Zing, and Piper.
The JAS-E One craz
This is a new addition to the JAS Putter line. This putter has a shape somewhat resembles some of the two ball putters on the market today, but does not use balls as alignment aids. It has a rectangular alignment aid on its large back plate. The putter head is made of C805 from lightweight aluminum, and 4 heavy tungsten weights were added to the perimeter, which creates a high MOI. In fact, the JAS craz-E has a higher MOI of any putter Ping in alignment, therefore, is the putter more forgiving on the supply of products. The deep black color and looks modern. I would say that is quite attractive looking.
