Pitching Wedge Golf
![]() |
I was recently looking for games of golf clubs. As some of you know, golf clubs can be very expensive. That's like buying a great set of clubs value for money very low.
What I was looking for?
I am new to golf. I was looking for a set that would not cost much money if not liked the game. I was also looking for a set that was high quality and not collapse or greatly affect my game because of poor quality. I would prefer not to buy brand new clubs for the price, so I bought it used. I want a set of quality applied for obtaining a good feel for the game without spending a lot money.
I would keep all the bars of the same brand. Having the brand of my driver, woods and hybrids different from my plate would not be a problem for me. Having a different brand of sand wedge and a putter would not be a problem.
What's in my bag?
Irons: Tommy Armour 855
Tommy Armour because of the brand and reputation for quality clubs.
Regular shaft because I am sure of my abilities so I wanted to complete start with the standard. Gaphite because it is more flexible and should help with distance. This set of Irons was my first purchase. The set was used, in good condition and was only $ 99 on some websites. The set includes 3 to 9 irons and a pitching wedge. New probably would be about $ 300.
Total cost to date: $ 99 total savings so far: $ 200
Driver: MacGregor MACTEC NVG2
graphite shaft, 11.5 degree loft.
Graphite again due to flexibility. I bought the loft 11.5 degrees as it will help with getting the ball in the air. As a beginner, reserving the ball in the air can be your greatest challenge. Drivers can be the most expensive purchase. Some new drivers may be $ 500 or more. MacGregor MACTEC NVG2 I felt was the best bang for the buck. This new club would be $ 299, used only $ 59.99 in perfect condition. You can not beat that!
Total Cost so far: $ 158.99, Total Savings so far: $ 440
Wood: MacGregor MACTEC Again, 3 wood
The same reasons that my choice drivers - graphite regular axes. The quality to price ratio can not be beat. I chose a 3 wood with 15 degrees loft, $ 29.99 in very good condition (new $ 199). This was my wood only because I'm going to buy two hybrids (2 and 5). A # 2 hybrid is very close to a 5 wood.
Total Cost so far: $ 188.98, savings Total so far: $ 610
Hybrids: MacGregor MACTEC # 2 and # 5
For consistency, I would keep my hybrid MacGregor too. Regular stiffness graphite to go with the rest of my clubs. Hybrid # 2 was orig $ 199, was used only $ 29.99 and 5 # Hybrid was $ 199 new, used was only $ 34.99.
Total Cost so far: $ 253.96, total savings so far: $ 945
What is left? I should add a sand wedge and putter in my bag. Finally, I need a bag. I'm not too worried if the sand wedge and a putter are Tommy Armour, MacGregor, or a different brand. Changing brands with these two clubs is not very likely to affect my game.
Sand wedge and putter: Cleveland 900 sand wedge and Putter Odyssey Dual Force
Cleveland is known for excellent wedges and Odyssey putters is known for excellent. The wedge is 56 degrees and has a steel axle. The new wedge would be $ 49.99, used in very good condition $ 29.99. The putter also has a steel shaft and new is $ 39.99 and is used in very good condition $ 29.99.
Total Cost so far: 313.94 dollars, the total savings so far: $ 975
Bag:
For me, I'm not too interested flashy bells and whistles for my bag. I am sure that when I recover, I'll change my mind. I found a bag of economic support for only $ 39.99, $ 59.99 normally.
