Persuasive Writing 101
As the owner of the website with the sole purpose of your website is to sell their products or services. Although the Internet is an extremely interactive, is still the words on your web site that will make or break you.
In this article I will share some tips on how to turn your website into a powerful sales machine. We will see some examples, and with the advice discussed in this article, we will also to submit a list of guidelines that can be used to write your own persuasive copywriting to sell, sell, sell!
Psychology Visitor - What's in it for me?
Your guest do not care about you. They do not care that you've spent $ 50,000 building the latest version of your widget. They do not mind having a nice company logo and Web site very well designed. Oh, no. When someone visits your site web that I have a question in mind, is that question:
"What is it for me?"
The sole purpose of website is for sale. And to make sales, you have to answer this question for each and every visitor who comes to your site. The best way to answer the "What it for me? "question is in relation to their potential customers through the benefits of your product.
Features VS Benefits
If you want your website to be a machine 24 / 7 sales is absolutely critical that you can translate the list of product features into benefits. Benefits sell because they appeal to the emotions of the people. Features do not. For example, look at this list of functions of one of our products, ArticleLive:
1. Word Key rich URL 2. Built in contact form 3. Easily add Google AdSense ads
Pretty boring, huh? Now let's translate this list features into benefits:
1. Keyword rich URL: Improve your search engine ranking, including the title of your article on your website link. It is well known that all the major search engines prefer websites with keyword-rich links.
2. Built in contact form: Make it easy for visitors to your web site to contact you using ArticleLive built in contact form. No more messy "do it yourself" HTML forms! 3. Easily add Google AdSense ad: benefit of their knowledge and writing skills by placing Google AdSense Ad with their articles. ArticleLive makes it easy to insert AdSense code where desired.
As you can see, I bold the main benefit of each point. I'm sure you will agree that the list of benefits ArticleLive makes the sound much more attractive than the boring list of features.
Social Proof
Next time you're out and about, try this:
Walk to a public crossing where there is a set of traffic lights. When no traffic (make sure to double check), walk across the road before the green man is walking. If there are other people waiting at the crossing with you, 9 times out of 10, will also begin to walk. This is an example of social proof.
Here's another example:
The Monday or Tuesday a relatively quiet restaurant and have lunch there. Instead of sitting inside, sit in one of their tables outdoors. Over the course of your meal will guarantee at least 5-10 people come into the restaurant and order their lunch in what would normally have been a quiet day for that particular restaurant.
These are just two examples of social proof Eddie and I realized when we are away from home. Social proof is based on the concept of "if he's doing, then must be good, so you should do well. "
The best way to implement social proof on your website is through customer testimonials or references. By showing your visitors that people have already purchased and are using their products or services, eliminate most of the preconceived doubts and skepticism that are about you and your company, and believe me, everyone has doubts, even the best companies.
Headlines
The subject of Writing a good title could fill a book itself. There is no right or wrong way to write a headline, and you should always try different variations of the owner because if you have a weak head very few people will continue reading, resulting in lost sales.
The best way to get a headline is to get in the your visitor's shoes. Ask yourself "If I were one of my potential customers, what words, the features, benefits, etc. that makes me want to continue reading and, finally, for my product? ".
I'll give some tips to start writing or rewriting the title of your own:
* Safe Social holders work well. Use phrases like "Who else wants to [have whatever product signifies"], "Learn to thousands of people have [done what your product is "]," This is how to [get the benefits your product provides "], etc.
* Title should emphasize the benefit of their product superior. It should be short and to the point and should make visitors want to read on to learn more. * Avoid the lines head seems too good to be true or too hype, like "With only an hour a day you too can become a millionaire at home business in just four weeks. * Research. Look around the Internet for operators to capture their attention and copy their format, or think back to recent purchases made online and enter the title or web content that convinced him to buy and use on your own site.
Formality is not required
Any good business owner should think about their customers as an extension of him and his company. I know that when I answer emails from our customers (And answer at least 50 a day) or if I have a copy of the deed of sale on our website, that the structure of my sentences as if talking with a close friend. Meeting formality in the web copy, email or telephone conversations awkwardness only adds, so I try to avoid it.
Of course, if you are a formality now at the enterprise level is a necessity, but most people buy small businesses, as they prefer personal interactions and appreciate the attention to detail. Here is an example of what I like to call "hard" writing:
The new version of Interspire SendStudio is ideal for sellers e-mail. Includes dozens of new features perfect for anyone wanting to start and maintain a marketing campaign via email.
Bland, boring, no benefits, and not talk to the visitor. Always try to use the word "you" as much as you can, while refraining from using the name Company or references to your organization as much as possible.
Here is a partial remodeling copywriting rigid from above:
Looking for a solution email marketing to increase their income, which was 10 steps ahead of his' more nearest competitor and * make your worship that customers?
If so, SendStudio is for you. We understand small businesses like yours and have built an affordable email marketing solution ...
I bold references to "you" or "your", and I color red benefits. This is just a simple example, but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting. Remember, they do not care about you or your company. Only matters What's in it for them.
Bullet lists
It is not easy to read paragraphs of text on a screen. You need to break your copy of everything you can. One of the best ways of attracting the attention of people who simply scan through your website is with bullet points.
Consider this paragraph:
WebEdit makes it easy to manage an entire website in one place. You can update your website at any time using only one PC. Also save time and money and be operational in less than an hour!
Now let bulleted format:
WebEdit makes it easy ...
* Manage an entire website in one place * Make changes at any time from any Internet-connected PC * Save time and money and be operational in less than an hour
Deeeeelish! As you can see, it is much easier to read a bulleted list of paragraph of text. Did you also notice the ellipsis (the three dots) that I added after the sentence?:
WebEdit makes it easy ...
This is another trick of wording that can and should use. It tells the reader "HEY! Keep reading, there is more information then." As a general rule to be managed to lead from the headlines in the introductory paragraph and all paragraphs 5.3, just to keep the reader focused.
Things to avoid
Before closing, here is a list of things to avoid when writing for your website:
* Massive sources large. Do not make your massive head only because I saw it on another website. It is true that a holder murderer make or break, but when the title is readable from across the room too. * Avoid colored text. I'm sure you've seen the text like this across the web. While you may think it is to attract attention, it does be annoying and there is no proof that it works. * Not underlined for emphasis. Stresses are reserved for the links and links only. Do not emphasize a point like this. It's ugly and confusing for visitors to your website. * Being a man of his word. If you promise a refund of 30 days, it does. Why not publish the testimonies of customers who have had refunds on your site to show your visitors that you politely honor all requests for reimbursement? We recently published some testimonials refund our money-back guarantee page and it works great. You can see here.
Conclusion
Well there you have it. My advice persuasive writing. Of course I have only scratched the surface, but I'm sure you've come up with at least an idea of something that may change its website.
